The Peds Cardiac Stepdown is located in Duke Central Tower at Duke University Hospital. Peds Cardiac Stepdown has 19 beds that primarily have infants through young adult patients with congenital heart disease, cardiac transplant, and cardiology patients that are trach and ventilator dependent. Nurse to patient staffing ratio is 1:3. Orientation is 4–6 weeks, depending on experience level.

Schedule:

  • Full Time: 3, 12-hour shifts, 7a/7p, day/night rotating, 36 hours per week

How you will make an impact

  • Plan and provide professional nursing care in accordance with medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of licensed and unlicensed care providers
  • Serve as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned
  • Participate in professional development, precepting, and performance improvement activities
  • Maintain the environment of care and perform other related duties as assigned

What you will need

  • Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma program
  • Registered nurses without a BSN must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of hire and complete the program within seven years
  • Current RN licensure in North Carolina or a compact state
  • BLS Certification
  • At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse
